8:00-9:00 - Our Keynote Speaker, Sue Beers, will address the entire USM faculty and staff in the Theater. Her presentation, Reading to Learn: Using Text to Teach Content, will focus on helping students learn content area information. An overview of the reading process and how it will be applied in the classroom will be presented.
9:15-10:00 - All members of our community will spend a dedicated period of time performing the focus exercise of the day - reading! Alterra coffee and a light breakfast will be available, so bring a current book of choice and enjoy some silent, sustained reading.
10:15-11:15 - Session 1 presentations and workshops will take place in various locations in the Upper School. A personalized schedule will be presented to all attendees at the conference.
11:30-12:30 - Session 2 presentations and workshops
12:30-1:15 - Everyone will enjoy a delicious lunch in the LS/MS Dining Room.
1:30-2:30 - Session 3 presentations and workshops
2:45-3:30 - Faculty and staff will meet in predefined groups (departments for the Upper School, grade levels for the Middle and Lower Schools) to discuss the day and plan for the future.
